Talon Resources has completed preparation for its maiden drill programme at the Eagle Lake Gold Project in Ontario. Its announcement sets out, in more detail than ever before, how MINML's PRISM platform shaped the plan.

PRISM, the Predictive Resource Intelligence & Spatial Modelling System, integrates geoscientific data with machine learning to map mineral prospectivity, quantify uncertainty and rank targets. At Eagle Lake it was trained on surface samples, drill core, airborne magnetic and electromagnetic surveys, provincial geological mapping and terrain data.

Tested blind first

Before ranking new ground, the model was tested against what was already known. Nine of the ten known gold occurrences on the property fell in its top quartile, and 81% of mapped mineralisation fell in its top decile.

Ranked against a country

A national model compared Eagle Lake against 1.83 million cells across Canada. Ten of the sixteen cells covering the licence fall in the top 1% nationally for gold, ranking it ahead of 62% of Canada's 242 past and present gold producers. A second, property-scale model converges on the same ground.

Ten of the sixteen cells covering the licence fall in the top one percent nationally for gold.

Archie Taylor, MINML's Chief Technology Officer, said in the announcement that the platform "ranked Eagle Lake against 1.83 million cells covering previously assayed areas across Canada".

Thirteen targets, four drill areas

The property-scale model identified 13 targets covering more than 230 ha within the 20 km² property. All four drill areas sit in the top 1.5% of predicted prospectivity. Cedar Trench, at the 99.9th percentile, is the only area in the model's top class.

Talon brought the programme forward and expanded it from 1,000m to 1,375m. Its CEO, Alex King, credited PRISM with refining the drill targeting behind the plan.

The plan built on Talon's Phase 1 surface work, reported in July, which included a channel sample of 4.80m at 4.47 g/t at East Fornieri Bay and a grab sample of 32.90 g/t from the Parker Shear.
